Maryland Sheriffs' Association Deaf Visor Cards Available

The MSA is pleased to announce that car visor card for deaf and hard-of-hearing drivers is once again available from your local Sheriff's Office or from the Association office. The laminated card states "DRIVER IS DEAF" and gives the driver instructions on how to use it in the event of a routine traffic stop to help prevent miscommunication.

The card can be placed in the windshield when the vehicle is being operated by a deaf driver, and stored in the visor at other times. When needed, the card will inform the officer that the individual has special communication needs due to hearing loss, and is not intentionally failing to respond to their request.
