The Benefits of Membership

Welcome to the Maryland Sheriffs' Association (MSA), Maryland’s premier organization for our Maryland 24 Sheriffs and law enforcement executives.  As a leader in your organization, you have the tremendous opportunity and responsibility to ensure your communities are safe and that your employees have the support they need to do a very difficult job.

The MSA provides training, advocacy and support to our members and their agencies to help them be successful.  Our Annual Training Conference has become renowned for its first rate presentations on current critical issues we face.  Through our Legislative Committee, our association has been able to play an important role in shaping legislation that protects our communities. In short, the MSA and its various committees are working hard to help you do your job.

The Association is also very active in the community, supporting scholarship programs for our graduating high school seniors, Special Olympics, and other charitable organizations throughout the state.  We are grateful to you for joining our efforts.

What We Do

The Maryland Sheriffs' Association (MSA) promotes the fair and efficient administration of criminal justice throughout the State of Maryland by preserving the Office of the Sheriff and by supporting Maryland’s sheriffs in their efforts to carry out their law enforcement, correctional and judicial responsibilities fairly, efficiently and in a professional manner.

MSA is comprised of all 24 Sheriffs from our state, executive law enforcement officers from State, local and federal Agencies, prosecutors and police legal advisers, members of the Maryland Police Training Commission, private sector security directors and interested citizens.  We are a membership based organization of law enforcement and corrections executives who work tirelessly on behalf of our members and our communities in several critical areas: Legislative and Legal Advocacy, Training and Member Services. Our active engagement on issues of public safety policy has allowed our association to effectively work with our State Senators and Delegates in Annapolis on legislation that impacts legal, social, and budgetary issues. MSA is recognized as the voice of law enforcement advocacy on behalf of Sheriffs Offices and local law enforcement in Maryland. MSA also provides contemporary training to law enforcement leaders statewide, ensuring our members remain current on leading issues as well as preparing the next generation of Maryland's law enforcement executives.
